Rangers Update . . . .

SUNDAY marks the first anniversary of boardroom change at Ibrox and Rangers fans will rightly be pleased with the progress that has been made on and off the park in the last twelve months. They will think back to that day last March and see at as a hugely significant moment for their club. After so many hard times, it was the turning point for Rangers.

The supporters right now are walking about with smiles on their faces. For four years, they went through hell as they saw so many headlines on the front pages as well as the back.

Rangers have stormed to title glory

THERE has been a lot of talk coming from Easter Road this season but it is Rangers who have got their message across on the park. Hibs have had their say on what Rangers have been doing and Alan Stubbs has had a go on a couple of occasions. But, at the end of the day, it has backfired on Hibs.

MARK WARBURTON insists there was no need for him to go on a Parkhead spying mission to scout out Scottish Cup rivals Dundee. Dees boss Paul Hartley saw his much changed side earn a point against Celtic on Wednesday as they moved up to fifth place in the Premiership standings.

But Warburton opted not to make the trip across Glasgow to see the Gers’ quarter-final opponents in action at close hand. Rangers are favourites to progress to the last four this weekend and the Ibrox boss is relishing the eagerly anticipated tie.

MARK WARBURTON is delighted Liam Burt has capped a dream week by penning a new Rangers deal. The midfielder made his Ibrox bow in the victory over Raith Rovers on Tuesday night and has now committed his future to the Gers until May 2018.

Six other Murray Park kids - Jamie Barjonas, Kieran Wright, Kyle Bradley, Jason Krones, Aidan Wilson and Grant Nelson – have also agreed new contracts. Burt is set to be in the squad for the Scottish Cup clash with Dundee tomorrow and boss Warburton said: “He is a real talent. I like him.
