Householders hit out over "slow response" to contaminated water scare

HOUSEHOLDERS have told of their anger over a “slow response” to a contaminated water scare.

Around 6000 residents and businesses in parts of North Lanarkshire were warned not to drink, wash with or even boil water from their taps after reports of murky brown supplies, which smelled of fuel. And locals fear the disruption will continue until the weekend. Scottish Water bosses confirmed today the number of properties affected has been cut from around 6000 properties to less than 400. Nine schools remain closed today and homes and businesses in Carfin, Newarthill, Chapelhall, New Stevenston and Dalziel Park were last night advised to use tap water only for flushing toilets.

I thought that the Scottish watter was one of the best?

Back again to the Rangers farce:
New Rangers boss Mark Warburton urged to splash the cash for Hibs starlet Scott Allan.

NEW Rangers boss Mark Warburton was today urged to make signing Hibs midfielder Scott Allan his top priority as he builds a side capable of winning the SPFL Championship. Allan was outstanding for the Easter Road club as they finished runners-up ahead of the Gers in the second tier of Scottish football last season.

And Light Blues legend Derek Johnstone reckons Warburton, who took over at Ibrox earlier this week, should target the skilful starlet in the coming weeks. The Barcelona Bear believes the 23-year-old, a Rangers supporter who was keen to join his boyhood heroes last summer, would suit the attacking style of play the ex-Brentford gaffer wants his side to produce.

Okay now about Celtic.
No contact with Celtic over Parkhead move for bite-rap star Nadir Ciftci, insists agent Pierre van Hooijdonk.

FORMER Celtic striker Pierre van Hooijdonk today insisted there has been no interest from the Parkhead side in Nadir Ciftci – as the Dundee United striker faces up to what could be a lengthy lay-off.

Ciftci and Jim McAlister clashed on the last day of the season in the Tayside derby, and the 23-year-old Turk was accused of biting the Dundee player. The Tannadice star will now have to defend himself at an SFA hearing on July 20 against allegations that he sank his teeth into McAlister's leg.
